This afternoon (Monday 17 June) in the City Council Hall the Fourteenth Century Seal of the City of Trieste was awarded to Pallacanestro Trieste on the occasion of its return to A1.

Present at the ceremony for the Municipality were the mayor Roberto Dipiazza; the deputy mayor Serena Tonel; the councilor with among her delegations that of Sport Elisa Lodi; the president of the City Council Francesco Di Paola Panteca. Present for the company were Board member Paul Matiasic; Vice President Fitzann Reid; general manager Micheal Arceri; investor Camille Castro; coach Jamion Christian; the entire team and staff.

President Francesco Di Paola Panteca began: “On behalf of the city I welcome you to the prestigious City Council Hall, I thank and congratulate the entire club, the guys on the team and the members of its staff. The result you have achieved makes in fact, all the people of Trieste are proud.”

Councilor Elisa Lodi then took the floor: “I join in the compliment. You made us very emotional, especially during the last playoff games played at home. I want to tell you that the Municipality of Trieste is at your side. We have worked together throughout the winter, also sharing a long-term project that the club has in the city. I wish you all the best for the next sports season. In the meantime, we will continue to work on the future management and concession of the municipal hall serious company that works in the area supported by the institutions with a view to synergy between the public and the experienced. It is an honor to have you in this room”.

Finally, Mayor Roberto Dipiazza declared: “Good evening and welcome to everyone. Basketball has always been particularly important in Trieste, as a legacy of the presence of the American Allies in the city until 1954. I have personally followed the fortunes of Trieste basketball for forty years We moved from the old Palazzetto di Chiarbola to Palatrieste. We spent fantastic years together, including successes and failures which are naturally part of the games of the year they have sown and now they are reaping an important fruit. Thank you very much on behalf of the city and the mayor, for what you have been able to express during this extraordinary sporting year, bringing prestige to the name of Trieste. In this spirit I give you the Fourteenth Century Seal , one of the most important awards of the city”.

The ceremony was preceded by a small meeting in the Blue Lounge of the Town Hall, during which the model of the Porto Vecchio – Porto Vivo and more generally the plans for the future of the territory were illustrated to the management of the sports club.
