Water crisis, city councilors Alfano and Piparo: “The mayor asks for the intervention of the Military Engineers”

“We ask to evaluate with the technicians of the Municipality of Agrigento and possibly with the responsible participant, and, possibly, propose in the various regional and provincial working tables, the possibility of the intervention of the Military Engineers who certainly have the men and means to be able to act quickly and immediately. The purpose would be twofold: to give back to the city of Agrigento the dignity it deserves and, at the same time, to favor a structural and decisive approach to the serious and age-old problem”. The ones asking for the intervention of the Military Engineers are the city councilors Francesco Alfano and Gerlando Piparo.

“Given the extent of the water crisis that is affecting the city of Agrigento, given the growing difficulties in water supply, it is necessary to act immediately – continue the two city councilors -. The current weather conditions further aggravate the situation. The scarcity of rainfall and the high temperatures recorded in recent years, already predicted by many experts, have caused the current drought. Unfortunately, other unplanned factors have made the accumulation, supply and delivery of the precious liquid: water very difficult”.

“In sharing his concerns – the two councilors turn to the mayor Franco Miccichè -, which are also those of our fellow citizens, especially those with less privileged backgrounds, for whom it is traditional to use the Bonamorone fountain, which has proven sufficient to satisfy the needs of few, we have learned from widespread news, via the mass media, that within 40 days, from the 20th of June, our city should obtain a further addition of 116 liters/s of water more than the current one which unfortunately no one reports litres. Of the promised quantity, the first 60 liters should arrive within 20 days while the remaining quantity within 40 days.”

“Therefore – they conclude – we will arrive at the month of August. In this period of time the works should be carried out to satisfy what was promised by Aica”.
