«I too am Civil Protection»: school camps begin from June to September

The 2024 edition of “I too am civil protection” is underway, the school camp project promoted by the Department of Civil Protection in collaboration with the Regions and national and local volunteer organizations.

From June to September, boys and girls aged 10 to 16, in two educational declinations for each age group, will be able to participate in school camps activated throughout the country.

The project aims to raise awareness among young people on the issues of risks and safety, highlighting the importance of prevention. Thanks to the commitment of Civil Protection volunteers, participants will become aware citizens, capable of understanding and dealing with emergencies.

In Umbria, six school camps are planned: in Sellano, where the municipal group will organize a camp at the social center of S. Maria dei Containers in Villamagina from July 22nd to 26th (Email: [email protected]); in Montone, where the local group will set up a camp in Borgo Lago, in the Faldo area, from 3 to 7 July (Email: [email protected]); in Spoleto, at the Beroide Pro Loco from 30 June to 6 July (Email: [email protected]); in Campello sul Clitunno, where the AIV will organize a camp in via Flaminia from 2 to 6 September (Email: [email protected]); in Perugia, where the Assoutenti association will organize a camp at the Parco 4 Stagioni in S. Sisto from July 28th to August 2nd (Email: [email protected]); and in Orvieto, where the municipal group will operate a camp at the Villa Paolina Park, in the municipality of Porano, from 15 to 21 July (Email: [email protected]).

Through a one-week educational path, divided into practical exercises and theoretical lessons, the over 5 thousand participants in the 250 camps activated across a large part of the national territory will have the opportunity to get closer to the Civil Protection System and, in particular, to the world of volunteering, deepening their professionalism and skills. Thanks to the active collaboration and full involvement of the representatives of the various components and operational structures of the National Service, they will also be able to deepen their knowledge of the risks present in their territories and of the Civil Protection Plans, learn the correct behavior to adopt in case of emergency and participate to the various activities implemented to protect the environment, the territory and, in particular, the woodland and naturalistic heritage.
