Recap of the first episode: plot and cast

If the season 1 finale of House of the Dragon laid the foundations for the great war that will split House Targaryen in two, we can say that the the first two episodes of season 2 served to provide us with a more detailed overview of what is the current situation in Westeros, showing us how the members of the dragon house are now more divided than ever.

Greens against Blacks, Aegon (Tyler Moffett) contro Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy). Two sides which, by hook or by crook, are undoubtedly willing to do anything to achieve their final goal, the famous and highly coveted Game of Thrones. With the war now appearing inevitable in everyone’s eyes. But not only.

In addition to being busy with the final preparations before the battle, in these first two episodes we have in fact seen the two factions hitting each other between retaliations and low blows, in true George RR Martin style. After the killing of Lucerys (Harvey Sadler) by Aemond (Ewan Mitchell), already in episode 1 we see Daemon (Matt Smith) working to return the favor, leading to what can be considered the greatest twist of this second season seen so far. L’murder of the innocent little Jaehaerysson of Aegon Targaryen and first heir to the Iron Throne.

House of the Dragon 2 Episode 2 Recap: Plot and Cast

It will be precisely this macabre murder, therefore, that will act as a common thread for the narrative, accompanying us towards those who are the main events of the second episode.

If at Dragonstone the relationship between Rhaenyra and Daemon enters into crisis after the Queen’s discovery of his involvement in Jaehaerys’ assassination, at King’s Landing the sovereign vents all his anger for the loss he had just suffered, thus deciding to send his knight Arryk to kill Rhaenyra, believed by all to be the instigator of the assassination. A revenge that, as we well know, will never materialize, with the knight being killed by his twin brother Erryk (who will then take his own life) right before the Queen’s eyes.

And that’s not all. Precisely in this episode, we will witness the not at all obvious Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) exitformer Hand of the King, with his place given to Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel). Lover of his daughter Allicent and among the most complex and interesting characters of this second season.

Plot and previews of the third episode of House of the Dragon 2, premiering today on TV and streaming

And here we are at this third, highly anticipated episode of the second season of House of the Dragon. An episode that, in some way, follows in the wake of the previous ones, with the two sides engaged in to make final preparations before the conflictbetween alliance pacts and war councils.

After the bitter confrontation with Rhaenyra, we will see Daemon mount his dragon and fly to Harrenhallwhile in King’s Landing we will meet new characters, such as Ser Gwayne Hightower (Freddie Fox)son of former Hand Otto Hightower and brother of Allicent.

However, Rhaenyra will once again stand as the true protagonist of the episodethe only one among all to believe that war can be avoided, and that the path of diplomacy is still viable. Going against the will of her allies and advisors (who push for the Queen to act immediately, before it is too late), Rhaenyra he will in fact decide to risk everything and secretly infiltrate King’s Landingin order to be able to talk to what he once considered his closest friend: Allicent Hightower.

A comparison that is shown to us right in the final scene of the episode, which as always it leaves us with a decidedly important charge of suspensewith attention unexpectedly returning to focus on the Song of Ice and Fire. The frightening secret that King Vyserys bequeathed to his daughter Rhaenyra. And which could now occupy a crucial role within the dispute for the Coronoa of the Seven Kingdoms.

House of the Dragon 2: review of the third episode

An episode full of events and twists, therefore, which however It does not yet show us what the crucial phases of the battle will be.

Although this third episode did not disappoint our initial expectations, in fact, it is also true that it refuted the predictions (and hopes) of most members of the fanbase, who believed that this would be the episode that would finally bring the Dance of the Dragons into its own. Also because, we remember, House of the Dragon it’s not a series designed to last as long as its illustrious predecessor. And with the next episode we will have already reached the halfway point of this second series.

All very nice, in short. But time is running out and, now more than ever, strong acceleration is needed.
