The first projections of the count in the polls that closed yesterday evening confirm the indications of the exit polls which already yesterday showed victory in France to the National Rally (RN) of Marina Le Pen which is between 33 and 34% against the now ex-macronian majority, between 20 and 22%. The Popular Front of the left is between 28-29%. According to observers, the RN of the lepenists could obtain between 240 and 270 seats, with the absolute majority set at 289. Emmanuel Macron – reports Ansa – was the first to speak: “In front of the National Rally National, the time has come for a broad clearly democratic and republican union for the second round”, which takes place in a week, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, from the left, thundered: “Not a single vote will go to the RN, wherever we will be third we will withdraw our candidate.” Same line then taken by Raphael Glucksmann, the leader of Place Publique among the main exponents of the Popular Front coalition.

The RN’s prime ministerial candidate for the Assembly is the young Jordan Bardellareassuring face of the coalition led by Marine Le Pen who greeted the victory yesterday with a “We have begun to erase the Macronian bloc”:

Unprecedented – for forty years now – the voter turnout which already yesterday at 5pm was 59.39% (up 20 points compared to the last legislative elections of 2022). Polling institutes estimate that overall it could be between 67.5% and 69.7%. The withdrawal agreements for the second round have begun.
