Subject: CR/CS and VF personnel in Sicily and Sardinia.

Dear,
we have received information that the Department’s Labor Relations Office is providing information to some
local trade union structures regarding the lack of staff with the qualification of department head,
team leader and firefighter at the offices where they carry out staff representation activities.
The offices referred to fall under the jurisdiction of the Regional Directorate for Sardinia and of
Regional management for Sicily. From the data transmitted by the Administration, significant average deficiencies can be seen, in
particularly in the qualifications of department head and team leader, of the order of 25% compared to the staff numbers
theoretical.
Limiting ourselves at the moment only to the locations recently reported, but taking into account that
these are problems that involve the entire national territory, this situation is a source of great
concern for the writer in consideration of the approaching summer season in which the two Islands,
notoriously, they are affected by very serious fires in the vicinity and in relation to the safety of the operators.
In fact, it will not be overlooked that the operational personnel of the Corps cannot be further burdened with commitments
working hours in excess of the overtime hours already worked and who are entitled to holidays during the summer period
programmed.
Furthermore, the particular operational difficulties linked to the island reality which does not allow sending are highlighted
immediate arrival of reinforcements from other locations and possible delays in the rescue system and for the safety of
operators.

The Administration is therefore invited to implement every possible organizational solution aimed at avoiding
the overload of workers and to guarantee effective coverage of requests for assistance taking into account the real ones
forces present as well as the right to scheduled holidays.

On this occasion, we also ask you to know, pursuant to art. 5, paragraph 2, Legislative Decree. 33/2013:

• The actual staffing of all structures, central and peripheral, divided by qualifications and roles
operational and technical professional roles;
• The number of employees partially eligible for service pursuant to art. 234, Legislative Decree. 217/2005, divided by
central or peripheral structure to which it belongs;
• The number of employees engaged in training activities, taking into account the necessary needs
of the central and territorial training structures, divided by location and qualification;
• The number of long-term absent employees (illness, command, out of role, etc.) divided by location
membership and qualification of both operational roles and technical-professional roles;
• The number of employees transferred by special laws (L 104/1992; Legislative Decree 267/2000; Legislative Decree 151/2001), divided
for central or peripheral output structure of both operational roles and technical-professional roles.

While waiting for a courteous acknowledgment, kind regards.

The Secretary General
(PINTI)
