News in sight from next Monday 1st July for the local public transport lines of the southern subnetwork of the province of Varese: the numbering of the lines in the areas of Gallarate, Busto Arsizio, Valle Olona, Somma Lombardo, Tradate and Saronno will change.

From July 1st the numbering of buses in the province of Varese will change

The Agency for local public transport in the Como, Lecco and Varese basin has in fact decided to give the go-ahead to the new “line names” in line with the regional standard system of information for travellers.

“This is a necessary operation – explains the President of the Agency for local public transport in the Como, Lecco and Varese basin, Giovanni Stefano Galli – as the current numbering was done by the transport companies a few decades ago, while today it is necessary to move to unified numbering according to the regional standard. The innovation is consistent with the process of unification of service planning under the direction of the Agency and allows improving information to citizens through clearer communication of a single public transport network integrated with the regional transport system”.

The numbers that will be changed

The most impactful innovations concern the Valle Olona area where the H601 line is divided into two lines (v180 and v181) and in the area north of Gallarate where the B50 and H632 lines are reorganized into three lines (v131, v162, v163) which allow better readability of the service and communication of routes and timetables. All other lines simply change numbers.

Therefore, until 30 June, the parallel phase will continue with the application of double coding on information material (timetables, notices, etc.), then from 1 July only the new numbering will be used for all communication channels at public including those on board buses.

The change only concerns extra-urban lines which do not undergo timetable changes.
