In short, if in the first weeks after Toti’s arrest on charges of corruption the hypothesis of a step backwards by the governor seemed around the corner, now the lawyer says that resignation it’s not even being discussed. First, there is the question of the precautionary measure, which according to Savi “must be linked to a concrete risk of repetition of a crime“and since the next electoral round will not arrive before 2025”it seems difficult to me to think that something that will happen in 2025 is current, unless we say that he must definitively distance himself from politics because, since perhaps he has committed a crime, he could always commit crimes“.

Finally, regarding the possibility of Toti showing up again in interrogation before the investigating judge, Savi excluded it, underlining how the governor had already answered all the questions by reconstructing the facts in detail. Clearly, she added, if the prosecutors were to deem it necessary to undergo a new interrogation, Toti would be available to clarify his version again. She then concluded: “If they need more time to investigate, there is no problem but they have to put a deadline on a measure which thus cannot be accepted. The investigation is practically closed and there is no need to keep him under house arrest any longer“.
