Motorcyclist killed in accident on the A2 between Torano and Tarsia, near Cosenza: traffic blocked on the motorway

Fatal accident along theA2 motorway between the Torano and Tarsia junctions, in the province of Cosenza. A motorcyclist lost his life who, according to the first information reported by the local press, independently lost control of the two-wheeled vehicle on which he was traveling and crashed without the involvement of other vehicles.

The accident in Tarsia

The accident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday 15 June, along the northern carriageway of the Mediterranean motorway towards Salerno, at km 229.800, just before the junction of the municipality of Tarsia.

The victim was traveling on a motorbike which, perhaps due to the high speed, skidded and ended up against the guard rail. The causes of the accident are yet to be clarified, the centaur would have died instantly.

Rescue services and traffic on the A2

Following the accident, traffic on the affected section of the A2 motorway went haywire, with the formation of long queues of vehicles traveling along the northern carriageway. It comes to motorists the alternative route of the parallel Provincial Road 241 is recommended.

The police and Ansa teams arrived on site to manage traffic and to allow regular traffic to be restored as quickly as possible. Also present washelicopter rescue with the 118 medical staff, who could not do anything but confirm the motorcyclist’s death.

The accident in Rome

The centaur who died along the Mediterranean Motorway is not the only motorcyclist to lose his life on Saturday 15 June. A few hours earlier, a 26-year-old boy died in an accident in Rome, involving a car and two motorbikes.

The accident occurred on via Cristoforo Colombo, at the intersection with via di Acilia, in the direction of Ostia: the victim was traveling on a Kawasaki 7900, while the other rider, a 34-year-old on board a Piaggio Beverly, was taken to the Grassi hospital in Ostia, but according to the information that has emerged so far, it would not be life-threatening.
