5TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ITALIAN MUSEUM OF FOLKLOR IMAGINARY

An important anniversary this year for the Italian Museum of Folkloric Imaginary that the June 22ndin the headquarters in via Ducale a Piazza al Serchio, will celebrate 5 years of activity with ONE DAY TOGETHER: scheduled meetings, presentations, stories, music and workshops.

Fixed appointments of the day:

– at 10 am the public meeting open to citizens, administrators and school operators Museums: digital and territory, guest Niccolò Roni for the Palace of Atlas – Furioso Museum of the Ariostesca Fortress of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana: a reflection on the digital development of two of the valley’s museums, the new museum dedicated to Ludovico Ariosto and the Italian Museum of Folklore Imaginary;

– at 5pm the presentation of the comic The last journey of the Witches – volumes 1 and 2: a tribute to the legends and folklore of Lucca, written by Alessio Del Debbioteacher and writer from Viareggio, editorial director of NPS Editions and co-artistic director of the Lucca Città di Carta festival, and designed by Silvia Talassi, a multifaceted artist who explores various media, from painting to photography, through music.

The comic, aimed at the recovery and valorisation of local legends and their diffusion, also through current languages ​​and with a more immediate appeal to a young audience, was born from a project of Italian Museum of Folkloric Imaginary with the collaboration of the cultural association “Born to write” and created thanks to funding from the Ministry of Culture relating to the tender for the removal of physical, cognitive and sensorial barriers in private museums and places of culture, included within the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) financed by the European Union – Next Generation Eu. The Last Journey of the Witches – volumes 1 and 2 It is presented in a dual version, both a paper version published by NPS Edizioni, available on the publisher’s website and a webcomic on the Museum’s website.

Activities available throughout the day:

– the comic workshops conducted by Silvia Talassi, open to adults and children: starting from the fundamental notions of how to create a comic, in particular with regards to illustration, we will then move on to the creation of a character, drawing the figure first in pencil and then in ink (workshop free upon reservation);

– the photographic exhibition Today’s witches in yesterday’s places Of Francesca Palagidocuments the work of Silvia Talassi during the creation of the comic The last journey of the Witches, retracing, with the use of analogue photographic equipment, the places of the legends of Lucca. The photographs of Francesca Palagi, who exhibited her previous works at Ad Gallery Florence, Bottini Dell’Olio Library in Livorno, Tevere Art Gallery in Rome, Villa la Principessa and Lucca città di carta in Lucca, will remain on display at the Museum until August 30;

– the exhibition of the works created by the students of the Piazza al Serchio Primary School during the drawing workshops organized by the Museum and conducted by Silvia Talassi;

– the musical interludes of Joe Natta and the Legends of Luccaan acoustic trio formed by Joe Natta, Ylis and Fabio Rapatmax, committed for years to the valorisation of the oral tradition and the historical memory of the territory, will present, among others, the new song Streghi, masters of the night, taken from their latest album and dedicated to the figure of the Witches, in theme with the presentation of the comic;

– the narrative interludes of Manola Bartolomei who in the afternoon will tell, to accompany the presentation of the comic, the stories of the Witches taken from the Museum Archives and will read some fairy tales for the children present;

– the visit to the Museum using the new Meta Quest 3 3D viewers.
