The Roman summer begins, four intense months with the capital that will be transformed into a beautiful and colorful stage, ready to welcome events of all types. There will be screenings, shows, performances, meetings, guided tours, activities and workshops for all ages.

Dozens of events of all types for the summer under the stars of the capital

The Roman Summer starts today, Saturday 15 June and will last until 15 October. It is promoted by the Department of Culture of Rome Capital, with the coordination of the Cultural Activities Department, in collaboration with Lea – Liberi Editori Autori and Siae and the communication services of Zètema Progetto Cultura.

Large-scale events, big names, audiences for special occasions, will alternate with neighborhood-sized events. All the Municipalities of Rome will be affected.

There will be the cinema, with 26 events, including outdoor arenas and events of a different kind but united by a passion for the big screen.

Twelve arenas and events, even those who are among the winners of the Estate Romana 2023-2024 tender will have free entry: San Lorenzo Cinema with Sapienza (Town Hall II), Cinema Beyond – Arena Cinema Parco Labia (Town Hall III), Rooftop Cinema – Peripheral Visions (Municipal V), Pigneto Film Festival (Municipal V), Cinematic – So far, so close (Municipal V), Karawan – Comedy and Culture Film Festival (Municipal V), The suburbs told by cinema (Town Hall VI), Cinema at the Walls… and beyond (Town Hall VII), L’aperossa – Archives, Music and Memory (Town Hall VIII), Punta Sacra Film Fest (Town Hall Cinecorviale Summer (Town Hall XI), Ciak Cinema Arena (Town Hall XV). The other 3 arenas are: Notti di Cinema a Vittorio Square (Town Hall I), Arena Garbatella, (Town Hall VIII) e Arena Cinevillage Monteverde (Town Hall XII).

Then there will be the free initiatives, again on cinema, created with the support of Roma Capitale. As The Cinema in the Squarethe Piccolo America Foundation event, in program until July 14th, with screenings, meetings and retrospectives between Piazza San Cosimato in Trastevere, Parco della Cervelletta in Tor Sapienza, Parco di Monte Ciocci in Valle Aurelia, up to the Cinema Troisi (special paid events).

Until September 8th the Cinema per Roma Foundation proposes the summer programming of the House of Cinema (Town Hall II); from 4 to 25 July, Rome Cinema Arena at the Aqueduct Park; in Tor Bella Monaca appointment with Long live Cinema! from 1st to 17th July.

Among the events of the month of June we find at Villa Ada the Villa Ada Festival, the traveling participatory art festival inspired by the work of Italo Calvino, the Piazza Gianicolo exhibition, at Pigneto Bande de Femmes, a festival of feminist and female illustration and comics curated by Tuba. And then I’m leaving Travel and Unscheduled Literature Festivalthe international contemporary dance festival that will involve various places in the city.

Also on the bill are dozens of projects that were chosen through the “Live show outside the Center – Year 2024” tender, for the creation of events in the less central neighborhoods of the city. Among these there will be Agorà – Theater and Music at Radici, a festival that will take place in the squares and gardens of Municipality IV and in Ostia, including theatre, music, circus and traveling shows.
