Fiat Grande Panda. A name that anticipates the evolution of the Panda, a model that says goodbye to the city car segment and becomes in all respects the heir of the late Grande Punto showing a city SUV style. Built on the same platform as the Citroen C3, it will be produced in Serbia at the Kragujevac plant. Another novelty comes from the engines with the debut of the electric version and most likely of a hybrid Grande Panda and a traditional petrol one.

New Fiat Grande Panda dimensions

How long is the new Fiat Grande Panda? The length reaches four metres, 3.99 to be precise, growing by more than 30 centimeters compared to the 3.65 meters of the current Panda. The style is completely new, with many references to the historic 80s model, such as the full-width bonnet and the name on the doors (homage to the 4×4), while the headlights, made up of opaline cubes, take inspiration from the windows of the facades of the Lingotto factory. In addition to the original light signature, the daytime running lights transform into direction indicators and illuminate some of the cubes which appear as horizontal pixels arranged in a checkerboard pattern. Further homage to the original Panda is paid through a glossy black bezel featuring Panda’s three-dimensional letters. Finally, to preserve the theme of ’80s geometry, the 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels are amplified by a stylized X design.

Electric Fiat Grande Panda

While waiting to know the technical data sheet of the Fiat Grande Panda, an overlap of engines with the range of the recent Citroen C3 is very likely. In fact, the two cars share a list of components, starting from the SmartCar platform which changes name and becomes the global multienergy platform STLA Smart Platform. On the engine front, the electric Grande Panda will be driven approximately by a 113 horsepower electric motor and powered by a 44kWh LFP (lithium, iron, phosphate) battery capable of guaranteeing a range of approximately 320 kilometers and capable of being recharged up to 100 kW using direct current sockets which will allow you to recharge from 20% to 80% in just 26 minutes.

Standard AC charging from 20% to 80% will take approximately 4 hours and 10 minutes at 7kW power, or 2 hours and 50 minutes if using 11kW power. Continuing the parallels with the e-C3, the electric Big Panda will take around 11 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h and will reach a top speed of 135 km/h.

Fiat Grande Panda hybrid

Moving on to petrol-powered engines, a hybrid Fiat Grande Panda will probably also arrive, powered by the 1.2-litre Puretech 3-cylinder engine to which a 48-volt electric unit combined with the automatic transmission is added. Prices not yet communicated but a starting price for the electric Grande Panda is expected to be less than 24,000 euros, while the traditional version could start from around 14,00 euros.
