An intervention for an escape gas in a home a Emilia finalin the Modena area, led to the discovery of a deposit of drug and to the seizure of approximately 14 kilos of cocaine. The operation was carried out by the financiers of the Provincial Command of Bologna, who arrested a thirty-year-old of Albanian origin. It all started from an inspection carried out by the firefighters for a suspected gas leakduring which the presence of heat-sealed micro-wrappers containing traces of a white powdery substance was found.
The staff requested the intervention of the Finance Department and the search activities, carried out by the Economic and Financial Police unit of Bologna, made it possible to find, in addition to the 14 kilos of cocaine (divided into 10 blocks and 3 bags containing the narcotic in ‘stones’ ready for subsequent processing), also a real clandestine laboratory, used for the storage and cutting of the drug. There were also the molds, with the logos of well-known fashion brands, used to brand the different batches of cocaine.
The thirty-year-old who lives in the apartment, who returned home during the search, attempted to leave but was blocked. At the end of the hearing, the investigating judge confirmed the arrest applying the measure of house arrest to the man, in a place different from that of the discovery of the narcotic.
