G7, Joe Biden landed last night in Salento

As reported by New daily newspaper of Puglialast night, around 10.30 pm, the President of the United States Joe Biden he landed inSalento airport.

Welcoming him were several important personalities such as the US ambassadors Jack Markell and Joseph Donnelly, the Chief of Ceremonial of the Farnesina Bruno Antonio Pasquino and the prefect of Brindisi Luigi Carnevale.

Biden will take part, with other Heads of State and Government, in the G7 chaired by Giorgia Meloni in the Province of Brindisi.

The summit will take place from 13 to 15 June in Borgo Egnazia, while the inaugural dinner, in which Biden will also participate, will be held at the Castello Svevo in Brindisi.

The themes touched upon will be many. The summit will discuss the war in Ukraine, the current crisis in the Middle East and Artificial Intelligence.

Furthermore, among the guests there will also be Pope Francis, who will become the first Pope to attend the summit. The Turkish president will also be present Erdoganthe Brazilian Lulathe Argentine Milei and numerous other Heads of State and Government not part of the Big Seven but nevertheless invited to take part in the meeting.

Why Puglia

The choice of Puglia as the location for a global event is certainly not accidental. President Meloni herself declared that the Region represents a symbolic territory of the connection between West and East:

we did it because Puglia is a region of Southern Italy, the message we want to give is of a G7 which under the Italian presidency wants to strengthen its dialogue with the nations of the Global South, because this land is historically a bridge between West and East
