(AGENPARL) – Wed 12 June 2024 FIREFIGHTERS, AURIEMMA (M5S): REPORTING DRAMATIC WORKING CONDITIONS, FROM THE GOVERNMENT ONLY WORDS
ROME, June 12 – “In the long run, propaganda and lies always come to light. The Meloni government has inundated Italy with empty words regarding attention to the security sector, but the facts are zero. No extraordinary hiring, announcements with great fanfare on the renewal of the contract of the Police Force which is a necessary act, today the serious complaint from the Fire Brigade: their working conditions are dramatic. Staff shortages force them to work exhausting shifts, with recalls and overtime returns. These are the words of Mauro Giulianella, National Coordinator of the FP Cgil VVF, who rightly observed how the Fire Brigade finds itself grappling with a government that hides the truth and is only capable of propaganda. The staff shortage can only get worse, in the absence of extraordinary investments which however the government has no intention of making: according to the union, in 2030 the staffing of the Fire Brigade, considering the retirements in the coming years, will have such a shortage therefore there will be a serious risk of not covering the entire national territory. The 5 Star Movement in government has paid much more attention to the sector, Meloni stops holding loud opposition rallies, the country is in his hands and he must answer for the thousand problems he is creating or not solving”.
This was stated by M5S deputy Carmela Auriemma.
