Today La Spezia will host the 2nd stage of the 42nd historical re-enactment of the 1000 miles, a route of 2 thousand kilometres, starting yesterday from Brescia and arriving in Rome and subsequently returning to Brescia on 15 June. The La Spezia stage will see you pass through the city the most beautiful cars of the past driven by crews from all over the world.

The convoy left at the first light of dawn from Turin to head towards the capital of the far east of Liguria and arrive around 4pm passing through the Aurelia variant. The participating historic cars will be around 500 and arriving from the Seresa junction of the Variante Aurelia they will travel along Piazzale Ferro, Via San Francesco, Via Monfalcone, Via Nazario Sauro, Viale Giovanni Amendola, Viale Nicolò Fieschi up to Porta Marola of the Naval Base. Subsequently the cars will enter the Naval Base where timed tests and stamp checks will take place. Once the tests inside the Naval Base have been completed, the cars will exit from Porta Principale and will follow a specific route made possible by an ordinance that modifies the road network and the normal public transport service: crossing Piazza Chiodo the cars will travel along Via Chiodo, Piazza Verdi, where there will be a stamp check at the appropriate station in the center of the square, and then continue along Via XX Settembre, Viale Italia, Viale San Bartolomeo and finally Via Valdilocchi with entrance to the A15-Lerici junction.

The transit of the cars will be organized as follows: first 100 cars from the Ferrari Tribute to 1000 Miglia 2024 will transit, followed by the 400 cars from the 42nd Historical Reenactment of the 1000 Miglia 2024.

The first car is expected to pass at around 4.20pm while the last to leave the city will do so at around 8.30pm. For the occasion, the Polytechnic of Milan, authorized by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, will carry out the experimental test of a Maserati Gran Cabrio Folgore which will travel the city streets in autonomous driving mode, at the head of the convoy of cars.

The event will take place on roads open to ordinary traffic and therefore all participants must observe the rules dictated by the Highway Code. To this end, the entire caravan will be escorted by traffic police patrols assisted by some local police patrols at the most critical points of the route from a traffic point of view. In addition, for assistance to the population and for the distribution of the flags of the 1000 miles, volunteers from the Municipal Civil Protection Group will also be found along the Porta Principale – Via Chiodo – Piazza Verdi – Via XX Settembre route.
