BRINDISI – “Insufficient and inadequate vehicles, reduced staff and firefighters camped in tents set up inside unhealthy and torrid garages of the Brindisi Fire Brigade which have been adapted for use and inside the warehouses of the Bari fair. It is improvisation as if an unexpected calamity had broken out while we are faced with an event that had to be planned for some time. The logistical situation of the firefighters at the G7 is totally inadequate and at risk for health”. This was reported by Gianni Cacciatore, secretary of Puglia for the firefighters union Conapo in a note sent to Prime Minister Meloni and Minister Piantedosi.

“It is an intolerable and disrespectful treatment – he adds – towards our firefighters, more like an underdeveloped country than a member of the G7. There has been a lack of due political attention on the part of the government and the Ministry of the Interior and adequate planning on the part of the leaders of the Corps who have decided to modify downwards the plan prepared in Puglia with the coordination of the regional management of the fire brigade and thought it wise to camp the personnel in the garages instead of the vehicles”.

“Enough improvisation, I invite Prime Minister Meloni to go and see the camps of her firefighters in person. Minister Piantedosi should intervene”, adds Marco Piergallini, general secretary of Conapo.
