The center of Genoa was invaded by the multicolored crowd of the big party that celebrated the ‘queer fury’: “We are furious and furious because the attack on non-binary and trans young people and their families continues!”, explain the organizers.
This year there has been no shortage of controversy over Village Kids, a space designed for boys and girls, which in fact raises ethical questions. “The parade aims to be a space of freedom, free expression and incisiveness. Those who participate take care of this space – reply from the coordination of Liguria Pride 2024 – We do not engage in sexist, discriminatory, harassing and homotransphobic behavior”.
In fact, the presence of minors (in the photo above) and some anti-clerical excesses (such as the unfortunate idea of having a figure dressed as the Pope parade, below) were jarring but also marginal compared to the libertarian demonstration which aroused rather a lot of sympathy in the citizenship. Big Mama, fresh from the successes of Sanremo, was highly applauded.
The Genoese followed with amusement the passage of the 11 allegorical floats and the picturesque evolutions of the thousands of people who in the afternoon gave life to the colorful Liguria Pride 2024 parade which started from via San Benedetto and then arrived in piazza De Ferrari, before the big party at Luzzati Gardens.
Pride concludes a week of events, meetings and shows that made up the program of the Pride Village 2024, which set up its tents in the Luzzati gardens.
