A class of high school seniors in Battipaglia recreated the iconic scene from the film “Dead Poets Society” to greet the teacher on the last day of school.
Only a few days ago, on June 2nd, the world of cinema celebrated the important anniversary of one of the most representative films of the 1980s and of the history of the big screen: one of the training films par excellence, “The fleeting moment”, starring an extraordinary Robin Williams, was released in the United States on June 2, 1989, 35 years ago (it would arrive in Italy in September of that same year). The anniversary practically coincided, in Italy, with the end of the school year: and so, a Battipagliain the province of Salerno, some final year students of Enrico Med Scientific and Linguistic High Schooli, decided to pay homage to their professor, on the last day of high school of their lives, by recreating the most iconic scene from “Dead Poets Society”.
And so, imitating Ethan Hawke and his companions, he 5C students of the Battipaglia institute climbed onto desks and chairs and said goodbye to their favorite teacher, before facing the much-feared final exams and saying goodbye to the world of high school. The moment was immortalized by a student and the video was published, it goes without saying, on TikTok, the youth social network par excellence. Although, unlike the film, the Battipaglia students did not declaim “O captain, my captain”a poem by Walt Whitman cited in the infamous scene, the moment is still very emotional, so much so that the teacher cannot hold back his tears.
“The best teacher ever” is the caption used by the student to post the video on the Chinese social network. The professor’s response, in the comments of the video, was not long in coming: “My 5C, forever in my heart”.
