It’s not holiday time yet. After the end of the championship and provincial cups, the Uisp 11-a-side football events do not stop. We start from the Torneo dei Rioni di Vernio, where Sant’Ippolito triumphs. Everything was decided in regular time: Leonardo Calamai’s goal in the 23rd minute was decisive, leaving their rivals Montepiano no chance, defeated but with their heads held high after the final match.
Pyrotechnic and spectacular, however, was the final for third and fourth place which saw Mercatale and San Quirico on the field, with ten goals in regular time, for a 5-5 final which led to the match being decided on penalties. Pilumeli, Grottini, Piccolo (twice) and Attucci scored for Mercatale. Instead, Sergi, Vignolini (a brace), Santini and Landi scored for San Quirico. In short, many emotions.
The match was decided on penalties, which San Quirico won 4-3 thanks to the aim of their snipers.
In addition to the Rioni di Vernio tournament, the Tuscan regional semi-finals were also played. AP Torrenieri was defeated in the match against Gatto Verde, with the latter reaching the final thanks to a 0-1 score in the match.
In the other semi-final match, Arena Metato beat Kickers Narnali 2 to 1. The latter, representing the province of Prato, found a momentary equalizer on a penalty converted by Lombardi, but then in the final stages they were forced to give way. With these results the final will be Arena Metato against Gatto Verde, respectively part of the Uisp Pisa and Uisp Valdera committees. Appointment for tonight, with kick-off at 9.30pm at the “Magnolfi” municipal stadium in Calenzano.
Finally, the matches of the Super Cup of the Torneo dei Rioni have been completed, a triangular tournament played between the winning teams of the respective local tournaments of Quarrata, Montale and Montemurlo.
The challenge between Orso di Quarrata and Strada di Montemurlo was resolved with the victory of the Strada district on penalties, after the 0-0 score in regulation time. Ugna di Montale, on the other hand, won both of its matches (against Orso and Strada), and won both by 1 to 0, resulting in full points in the standings with 6 points. A clear path that thus gave her the title up for grabs.
