Present last Friday at the press conference were Carlo Piccoli, tournament manager, Viktor Galovic, tournament director, the president of Esu Verona Claudio Valente, the vice-president of FITP Gianni Milan, Mariano Scotton of FITP Veneto and the president and CEO of Volvo Car Italia Spa Dr. Michele Crisci.
As the organizers affirm in unison, “this is the fourth edition of the Scaligero tournament, played in previous years at the At Verona and the Circolo Scaligero, to return definitively this year to the Sport Center Verona, the venue that hosted the historic editions from 1988 to 1990 ”. This is a stage that promises an important number of athletes in Verona.
Con 123 thousand euros as prize money, the most promising athletes of the moment are expected from all over the world.

Piccoli begins by declaring that his intent is to reconnect “the threads of history. Since the first edition of the Tournament in 2021, Viktor and I have organized this beautiful event for the whole city and tennis fans. From this year, however, the event will be held at the Sport Center Verona, therefore we can say that the Tournament has found a home.
We will work in the spirit of continuity with the prestigious history of the Centre, combined with a gradual renewal of the services offered and the technical facilities, with the aim of bringing this space back to the centre of the city’s sporting and cultural life”.
The president of ESU Verona was also present and stated that “ESU Verona aims to improve the student experience in the city, not only by providing some essential services during the course of studies, but in all those activities that can enrich the quality of life of boys and girls, from culture to sports”.
Galovic also intervenes, inviting to “transmit, through this event, the passion for tennis to the new generations. I think it is essential that parents understand how important sport is for their children, especially at a competitive level, because it teaches them how to achieve their goals”.
The new ownership, therefore, takes the opportunity to also present “the new company Sports Center Verona Srl Ssd, made up of Carlo Piccoli, Viktor Galovic and Anna Pavoncelli, which from 1 June 2024 has become the owner of the Sports Center former sporting club Verona and , therefore, co-organizer of the Tournament that brings the Challenger back to the Borgo Venezia club, over 30 years after the last edition played at Sporting”.
