Antonio Paoletti, President of the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce, declares: “Friuli-Venezia Giulia is experiencing a phase of incredible growth from a tourism point of view. From data provided by the Regional Councilor for Tourism Sergio Emidio Bini, in the first three months of 2024 +16.3% was recorded with over 1.1 million tourist presences (+10.9% and +24% foreigners and +46.4% in seaside destinations, +4.4% in the mountains, +11.1% in cities). For the summer seasonfrom June to September, 6.8 million tourists are expected with an expected increase of +3.2% compared to the previous year. The countries that saw the greatest increase in tourists were: Ireland, Germany, Austria, the United States, Spain and Poland. For summer 2024, the arrival of 6.8 million tourists is expected (+3.2% compared to the first quarter of 2023), of which 4.4 million foreigners, mainly coming from Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic which would record a tourist expenditure of around one billion euros, with an increase of +10.2% compared to the same period of the previous year. In this context It is necessary to accelerate to make Gorizia more and more a destination for tourists whose most interesting identikit for Friuli Venezia Giulia sees them coming from the North East, Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. The support of the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce in Gorizia and its entrepreneurial fabric is more concrete than ever and the response of the territory suggests rapid development.”

Rodolfo Ziberna, Mayor of Gorizia, adds: “Next year with Nova Gorica we will be the European Capital of Culture. What convinced the European Commission, which evaluated several cities, is only one thing. The border, which seen from above is non-existent, nevertheless arouses emotions linked to memory and remembrance, which remain but which require us to move forward.”

Antonio BravoDirector of PromoTurismoFVG, underlines: “There are three themes on which I would like to focus: the Sustainable tourismThe Roots Tourism and the GO!2025 project. Sustainable Tourism has become increasingly important and regions like ours have the opportunity to become even more revealing, because we are increasingly looking for slow tourism that respects the territory, which works here and is already very developed, let’s think about example to the cycle networks present in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. 2024 is the national year of Roots Tourism, aimed at Italians abroad who can rediscover their country through special services and the many initiatives in the area. Finally, for Go2025, I am convinced it is an opportunity to restart this territory. In fact, it will not be a point of arrival but a starting point. And we must believe in tourism and Friuli-Venezia Giulia is believing in it.”
