The parties of Carlo Calenda and Matteo Renzi support the same candidate in 13 capital cities out of the 29 on the ballot: in Power, Vibo Valentia, Forlì, Modena, Reggio Emilia, Bergamo, Cremona, Pavia, Ascoli Piceno, Verbania, Vercelli, Lecce And Lawn. In some cases Azione and Italia Viva presented lists with their own symbols, in others they included some candidates in civic lists. For example, in Perugia the parties of Renzi and Calenda support the same candidate of the PD and Movimento 5 Stelle, Ferdinandi, and on the ballot paper there will be their symbols. In Bergamo, however, the two parties always support the candidate of the PD and the 5 Star Movement, Elena Carnevali, and Italia Viva he presented its symbol, while Action no.
In Forlì, too not presenting their symbols, Action and Italia Viva they announced their support for the outgoing mayor Gian Luca Zattini, candidate with the centre-right. In other cases the two parties support a candidate outside the two main camps, such as a Verbania.
Azione and Italia Viva however support different candidates in at least 12 capitals, including Florence, Bari And Cagliari. In Florence, Italia Viva supports the candidacy of Stefania Saccardi, while Azione supports Sara Funaro, candidate of the PD and the 5 Star Movement. In Bari Italia Viva has nominated one of its representatives among the lists that support Michele Laforgia, candidate of the 5 Star Movement, while Azione he claims Vito Leccese of the PD. In Cagliari Italia Viva he claims Zedda’s candidacy, while Azione does not officially support any candidate.
In Urbino, Campobasso, Biella and Caltanissetta it is not clear which candidate Renzi’s and Calenda’s parties support. We contacted the press offices of Italia Viva e Azione and at the time of publication of this article we are still waiting for a response.
