Huge fires in Israel due to Hezbollah rockets

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an intense drone strike against several Israeli targets. The group’s militants attacked Israeli positions on the Mediterranean coast, bypassing the Iron Dome defense system. The Lebanese television channel ‘Al Mayadeen’ reports this, adding that the fighters hit an Israeli military vehicle on Mount Adather, west of Kibbutz Sasa, with an anti-tank guided missile, causing casualties among the crew members. Hezbollah also hit a group of Israeli troops with rockets near the Ramyah military site. Artillery units also targeted Israeli spyware and reconnaissance equipment at Malikyah military sites.

Hezbollah launched dozens of Grad-type rockets on the positions of Israeli artillery units in al-Zaoura. A fire is also raging ad al-Jalil Panhandl and is spreading towards the largest settlement in the area, Kiryat Shmona, whose residents were evacuated. According to Israeli media, dozens of firefighters worked for more than 6 hours in an attempt to control the fires in Upper al-Jalil.

Drones launched by Hezbollah hit Israeli officers and soldiers inside a building, setting it on fire and killing several men, the same TV reports.

Hezbollah also launched a suicide drone at a military tent at the Metulla military site. On the Mediterranean coast, Hezbollah launched several suicide drones towards targets located south of Liman, Palestine. The drones bypassed Israeli Iron Dome systems, which launched several interceptors but failed to intercept them.

Vast fires in the Golan

Beyond 1,000 hectares of land on the heights of Golan were engulfed in flames during yesterday’s attack by Hezbollah. According to estimates by the Israeli Nature and Parks Authority, the rocket barrages on Katzrin have caused large fires especially in tourist routes, so much so that it will take several years before the areas are reforested.

Sharon Levy, director of the Golan Heights region at the Nature and Parks Authority – reports Ynet News – said that the fire caused significant damage to the Yehudiya forest nature reserve and also in the Zavitan stream area. “This is significant damage, not a small fire. It takes years for nature to recover, with trees and animals affected.”.

The fires broke out yesterday after Hezbollah launches around midday towards Katzrin, the largest city in the Golan Heights. Fifteen fire brigade teams worked for hours to gain control of the flames, with six firefighting aircraft.
