The Santa Maria Capua Vetere prosecutor’s office has entered the owner of the house where Giuseppe Valletta died in the register of suspects. The 23-year-old lived alone in a rented apartment in Baia-Latina, in the province of Caserta. Last Saturday morning, Valletta was taking a shower when he was electrocuted. The boy was preparing for a cousin’s wedding. As reported by Repubblica, it was some relatives who no longer had news of him who discovered the boy’s body and called 118. The attempts by health workers to resuscitate the 23-year-old, who died instantly, were in vain. According to rescuers, Valletta died of cardiac arrest due to electrocution.

The investigations

The carabinieri of the Pietramelara station, coordinated by Captain Alessandro Saba of the Capua Company, seized the apartment. It will now be necessary to ascertain what caused the accident: the most popular hypotheses at the moment concern an electrical leakage due to the water heater near the shower, or a malfunction of the electrical system which would have prevented the circuit breaker from tripping. The outcome of the autopsy on the young man’s body, which is now at the forensic medicine institute in Caserta, will also be decisive.
