Middle East, Netanyahu: Biden proposal on hostages incomplete and incomplete

Jerusalem, 3 June. (askanews) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it known that the proposed agreement on hostages presented by US President Joe Biden is “incomplete and incomplete” and will not stop the war but will lead, at most, to a cease-fire -temporary fire to free Israeli hostages held in Gaza. “We have come a long way to bring them home – Netanyahu said in a video statement – but we must not lose sight of all the objectives; first of all destroy Hamas. We do not want to give up any of them, it is all part of the plan”. Aides close to Netanyahu stressed after Biden’s speech that Israel’s proposal allows the Jewish state to resume fighting at any time if it concludes that Hamas is stalling for time in the talks without intending to actually release all the hostages. For their part, however, Hamas sources told the press that the group’s leadership informed the mediators of Qatar and Egypt that they considered Biden’s plan positive but that they wanted a lasting ceasefire and, above all, a official guarantee from the United States that Israel will apply all the conditions of the agreement. Wishes, in some way, already returned to the sender by Netanyahu.
