Oak Wood and Leather: Compasso d’Oro in Cordoba

Cordoba, an armchair designed by Foster + Partners Industrial Design Studio for B&B Italia, was awarded an Honorable Mention at the 28th edition of the ADI Compasso d’Oro award.

A prestigious result for the famous brand B&B Italia, a furniture company from Novedrate, which annually invests approximately 3% of its turnover to develop projects that combine innovation, quality and industrial know-how.

“On behalf of B&B Italia, we are extremely proud and honored by the important recognition obtained by Adi – said Demetrio Apolloni, CEO of B&B Italia Group – the Honorable Mention awarded to the Cordoba chair represents a significant achievement for the brand, which works with a view to innovation and sustainability, respecting the important heritage that distinguishes it. We want to create timeless, durable and distinctive products, in full respect of the brand’s DNA”.

Cordoba is a seat made in 2022, it has an oak wood structure, with Nordic rigor but with an oriental echo, and a leather backrest and seat. Designed to be functional and light, suitable for both public environments such as studios and offices and domestic spaces, the seat is a concrete manifesto of B&B Italia’s commitment to sustainability.

The recognition is part of the rich list of prizes awarded by ADI to B&B Italia, as evidenced by the five Compasso d’Oro obtained over the years for Le Bambole by Mario Bellini (1979), Sisamo by Studio Kairos (1984), Sity by Antonio Citterio ( 1987), for the company B&B Italia (1989) and, the most recent, Product Lifetime Achievement Award for the iconic UP Series designed by Gaetano Pesce (2022).
