Claudia Sheinbaum wins the elections, as expected, and will be the first woman to lead Mexico. The gap between the platform’s candidate is enormous Sigamos Haciendo Historia (which brings together Morena, greens and the Labor Party) on the challengers Xóchitl Gálvez, head of Strength and courage in Mexico which brought together the historic parties of Mexico – the National Action Party (PAN), the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) – and Jorge Máynez of Citizen Movement.
Sheinbaum received more than 57% of the votes compared to 29 for Xóchitl Gálvez and 10 for Máynez. The official result should arrive late on Monday, but the data is already certain and emerges from the count published by the National Electoral Institute through an official statistical procedure which estimates the trend of the final voting results and the percentage of citizen participation.
Already around 1 am Claudia Sheinbaum received phone calls from her challengers who recognized her victory and spoke with outgoing president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who congratulated her on the result.

“After 200 years I will be the first woman to lead Mexico” was the first comment from the former mayor of Mexico City. This vote, Sheinbaum declared, “is the Mexican people’s recognition of our history, but above all of our national project.”
But the great result achieved by Sigamos Haciendo Historia – therefore by Obrador – does not stop at the presidential residence of Los Pinos: the coalition also won the local elections in Mexico City, with Clara Brugada called to continue Sheinbaum’s work, and in the states of Chiapas, Morelos, Puebla , Tabasco, Veracruz and Yucatán. Head to head instead in Jalisco between “Obrador’s” candidate and that of Citizen Movement. The only certain defeat at the moment is in the state of Guanajuato where the candidate of won Strength and courage in Mexico.
