Ten days after the tragic flood of June 21, the search for the missing people of Sorte is now coming to an end.

Over the weekend the teams completed the check of the entire course of the Moesa south of Lostallo and that of the Ticino downstream of Castione. They found nothing.

Meanwhile, the formal identification of the woman found dead on Friday is awaited, but there is now little doubt that she is not the 53-year-old who disappeared from Sorte with her 57-year-old husband.

Their sad story, as RSI recalls, has caused great grief not only in Mesolcina and a great sense of solidarity towards their children. The fundraising campaign launched by the “Shark Team 2000”, a group of swimmers in which their daughter is a coach, in their favor has already raised almost 180,000 francs, thanks to the generosity shown by about 1,800 people.

On Monday, the regional general staff that has coordinated operations since the end of the most acute phase of the emergency will be disbanded. Responsibility will pass to the municipalities and relief agencies.
