Three immersive classrooms at IC Maddaloni 2-Valle: inaugurations

MADDALONI – Yesterday morning there was great excitement at IC “Maddaloni 2 – Valle”. For several months we have been working hard and simultaneously in the three buildings that house the various centers located in Maddaloni in via Feudo and via San Francesco d’Assisi and in Valle di Maddaloni to set up three innovative learning environments, in step with new technologies and the new languages with which students are familiar and familiar.

The training course

At the same time as setting up the classrooms, the manager Rosa Suppa and the institute’s teachers followed an intensive training course held by Eng. Francesco Aversanowho also took care of the testing of the three classrooms. Once tested, groups of students, the first in Maddaloni, began to enter these new learning environments and to experiment with these new forms of teaching, which, following today’s inauguration, will become part of their daily lives.

The inauguration

The principal Rosa Suppa, yesterday morning, cut three ribbons in the schools she manages, in three separate ones inaugurationssupported by the mayors of the respective municipalities Andrea De Filippo and Francesco Buzzo and in the presence of other authorities such as the councilor Annarita Santangelo, the parish priest Don Giuseppe, the Carabinieri marshal. A representation of the school council was present with the president Roberto Cappathe management’s staff, teachers and students who showed, assisted by the engineer Aversano, with dexterity and ease, what can be achieved in these classrooms and how teaching has changed thanks to new technologies, which transform students into competent students, able to design, program and immerse themselves totally in the disciplines they study.

The declaration

We asked her what changes from today for her young students who today explained to the adults present how they will teach thanks to these classrooms:

“L’immersive classroom it is the new frontier of teaching, in which the dynamic and inclusive environment allows access to multimedia content. You have the possibility of being projected in time and space, with contents that concern multiple subjects. In the immersive classroom, it is possible to take advantage of images that range, in the space of a few seconds, from history, geography, astronomy, languages, art and sciences. STEM on the other hand is the acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM refers to a revision of teaching methodologies aimed at integrating scientific disciplines with non-scientific ones. Among the reasons behind the interest in these aspects is the growing complexity of reality: the problems that humanity is facing today can hardly be solved with the application of individual knowledge. STEM can be considered as the tendency to integrate the various disciplines in a more or less profound way. More generally, the transdisciplinary approach to teaching creates an open space in which students stop classifying what they have learned into single “subjects”, but instead use all the knowledge they have assimilated and the skills they are able to apply to solve problems in a variety of fields (skill development). Educational robotics is a field that uses robots and related activities to promote scientific, technological, engineering and mathematical learning among students. It is important because it stimulates creativity, critical thinking and problem solving, encouraging young people to explore complex concepts in a practical and engaging way.”

In Maddaloni and Valle di Maddaloni the future is already present thanks to these classrooms which have generated enthusiasm and curiosity among adults. The students, however, already at ease, have this great opportunity at their disposal. A different, more dynamic, active and changing perspective can therefore be added to classical teaching, which is in itself stimulating and creative. Creativity and imagination, in both cases, have the possibility of emerging, with different nuances.
