The charm of the Renaissance lives again with “A day in the Forlimpopoli Fortress”, the historical re-enactment that will animate the heart of the Artusian city from 10 to 12 May. Inspired by the great celebrations which, in the 16th century, welcomed Brunoro II Zampeschi on his return from France, the event reaches its 45th edition this year with a rich program of initiatives: costume parades, challenges, guided tours, initiatives for children and families , shows.

FRIDAY 10 MAY

The first appointments are scheduled for Friday 10 May. During the day, the MAF Archaeological Museum of Forlimpopoli organizes a treasure hunt to search for the manuscript of Brunoro II, lord of Forlimpopoli. The families, divided into teams, will compete in a real hunt for clues, and will have to solve the riddles contained in the many books in the library. You can participate during the opening hours of the museum, which will be open every day from 9.30 to 12.30 and from 15.30 to 18.30. Cost 5 euros. The initiative will be repeated in the same way on Saturday and Sunday.

At 8.45 pm, a Renaissance crime dinner will be served in Piazza Pompilio. The participants, in addition to enjoying dishes inspired by the gastronomy of the time, will be called to help none other than Dante Alighieri, engaged in the investigation into Hell, to discover who killed Virgil. SATURDAY 11 MAY

Numerous initiatives are scheduled for Saturday 11 May. At 4 pm in the courtyard of the Rocca the Renaissance Market will begin, animated by games from the time, and a mosaic workshop with bricks will take place aimed at children aged 9 and above, organized in collaboration with Heart4Children APS, which is a Partner of the LEGO Group ® (max 30 seats). Also at 4 pm, in the Church of the Servants, a conference will be held by Lorenzo Aldini of Italia Nostra Forlì, dedicated to “The walls of Forlimpopoli over time: origins, reuse, current affairs”. The meeting is connected to the documentary exhibition on the walls of Forlì Forlimpopoli and Bertinoro also set up in the Chiesa dei Servi.

At 4.30 pm in Piazza Pompilio the Hostaria del Pellegrino will open its doors, while at 5 pm the Fossato della Rocca will be animated by the “Palio Games”: tug of war, race with the beams, historical five-a-side football, throwing of the ax and throwing of the flag. In the evening the Fossato della Rocca will come alive with some spectacular initiatives. At 9pm the “Contest of the Flags” will see the four districts of Forlimpopoli compete with tests of technique, skill and precision. Following this, at around 10pm, “The Rise of the Heir” will be staged: in a fantasy setting, warriors of every religion and culture compete to decide who will be the winner.

SUNDAY 12 MAY

The program on Sunday 12 May will open at 11.30 am with the celebration of Mass in San Ruffillo, with the offering of candles and the blessing of the banners,

In the afternoon starting from 4pm, a workshop will be held in the internal courtyard of the Rocca in collaboration with Heart4Children APS, aimed at children aged 5 to 12 (max 20 places). Free participation, but reservations required on 347-5635534. Also at 4 pm the Renaissance market will come into operation, while at 4.30 pm the Hostaria del Pellegrino will open its doors.

The culminating moment will strike at 5pm with the historical procession to welcome Count Brunoro II Zampeschi returning from the lands of France. The celebrations will open with a falconry show, while the procession of gifts will be held in the Fossato della Rocca, followed by armed duels, performances by flag-wavers, drummers, jesters and falconry shows.

At 6.30 pm the guided tour “At the court of Battistina” is repeated.

Grand finale at 9pm in the Fossato della Rocca with “Phoenix”, a juggling show with fiery instruments and special effects of all kinds. Dancers, gymnasts and jugglers will be on stage and will give life to spectacular performances.
