Lecco: meeting with fashion sector traders

There are very specific rules to follow for the labeling of textile products and footwear, under penalty of heavy fines for shopkeepers. “We wanted to organize a clarification meeting for shops in the fashion sector – said the director of Confcommercio Como Graziano Monetti – in order to provide all the information and distribute the mandatory signage to be displayed within their activities”.

The meeting will be held at the headquarters in via Ballarini 12 on Friday 19 April at 1.30 pm and the speaker will be the General Secretary of the Italian Fashion Federation Massimo Torti.

“The lack or incorrect labeling causes confusion among consumers – highlighted the President of the Fashion group of Confcommercio Como Marco Cassina – a damage for traders, a weakening of the image of producers and of “Made in Italy”, an apparent and generalized lowering of quality standards, a potential risk for the protection of public health and safety and a possible fraud to the detriment of the market and the consumer”.

For this reason, those present will also be issued a handbook created by the Italian Fashion Federation «BUY ORIGINAL. MADE IN ITALY? YES PLEASE! ARE YOU BUYING A FAKE? NO WHY…”, an initiative also included in the national calendar of MIMIT – Ministry of Business and Made in Italy.

The objective is to promote Made in Italy and, at the same time, collaborate to combat fakes at every level, starting from the purchasing habits of consumers, who do not always have full awareness when purchasing a counterfeit product – perhaps for a very small amount. of the consequences of this action in terms of support for crime, exploitation of labor, tax avoidance and evasion, unfair competition and more.

Participants will receive for free:

an “SOS Labeling” handbook for operators, with practical advice on the behavior to adopt immediately, when ordering the garments/products and receiving the goods, in case of checks by the local police, financial police and Chambers of Commerce and in the event of seizure of the goods; a multilingual sign to be placed in store changing rooms with the list of textile fibres; an illustrative sign on the symbology of the label to be displayed in the shop.

It will be an opportunity to clarify the rules to follow and understand if the right things are being done in your shop. Furthermore, you will be able to collect all the signs required by law to be displayed free of charge and avoid incurring fines.
