MANTOVA – It gets underway Saturday 4 May to Magdalene Court the 2024 programming of «Court Distances»the cultural proximity project conceived by Carrozzeria Orfeo, created with the contribution of the Cariplo Foundation, as part of the «Per la Cultura 2022» call, of which the program of spring/summer initiatives. A project that wants to make Corte Maddalena, where Carrozzeria Orfeo has its headquarters, the place in which to shorten the distances between theater and other artistic disciplines, between cultural activities and rural places, between Carrozzeria Orfeo and the new young companies (with Giving Back, tutoring project for a new artistic formation), between national activity and territorial community.
Opening the evening, at 7.30 pm, will be themulticultural aperitif on the farmyard, in collaboration with Mantua Farm School, based on multicultural and vegetarian dishes. Food and being together at the table as an ideal place to shorten the distances between people and cultures and discover together the colours, flavors and scents of lands near and far.
It will follow, at 9 pm, «Stuff from another world»one of the most visionary and surreal shows of Orfeo body shopbetween theater and performance, between the dramaturgy of Gabriele Di Luca and the language of illustration The Scoundrels, a group born in 2013 thanks to the meeting between Massimiliano Setti, co-artistic director of the Company and musician, and Federico Bassi and Giacomo Trivellini, the two historic illustrators of Carrozzeria Orfeo. For years engaged in live performances in which traditional illustration techniques and digital technologies mix with live drawing, music and animation, the trio encounters the writing of Gabriele Di Luca with the desire to explore the multiple links between contemporary dramaturgy and the language of illustration. Digital animations, stop motion, video games, drawings, dialogues and music will merge and contaminate to tell the ironic adventures of the show’s protagonists. On stage Massimiliano Setti he will assemble live electronic music and interpret the different characters of the story, together with the actor and musician Sebastiano Bronzato; with them Federico Bassi And Giacomo Trivellinithey will draw illustrations live and give life to surprising animations, thanks to a camera that will capture the creations to project them live on a screen.
The show develops around the theme of Metropolitan Fears, that characterize and condition our daily lives: prejudice, intolerance, suspicion, insecurity, loneliness, censorship and ideological terrorism are the elements that influence an increasingly fragile and disarmed social fabric. In a world fractured by a profound economic, social and human crisis, the only hope of salvation is represented by Aliens, who have descended to earth to help us solve our most serious problems. Initially perceived as a miracle, they are almost immediately demonized, exploited, persecuted by those in power who have no interest in change. The news broadcasts in the background accompany the plot, recounting the contradictions and distortions of our time, the mirror of a ridiculous and invasive society, in which fact becomes news, news becomes gossip, gossip becomes truth.
