Last March 25th marks a date to remember for the students of the “Garibaldi” secondary school. As part of a national competition “Victims of duty, art. 4 of the Constitution”, the students of II C, two of III B and III C, won first place by proposing a video dedicated to Giuseppe Tusa, a young soldier from Milan who tragically who disappeared in the collapse of the control tower of the port of Genoa, during a maneuver of the Jolly Nero ship. It is called “Giuppy victim of duty” and it was Giuppy’s mother, Adele, who rewarded the very young students who wanted to do this job pay homage to him. Coordinated by teachers Maria Grazia Caliri and Loredana La Fauci, here are the names of the winning students: Amboko Charlotte, Andaloro Alberto, Andaloro Andrea, Berenato Lara, Bertè Giacomo, Buccafusca Francesco, Caragliano Alessandro, Cristadoro Sebastiano, D’Amico Laura, Duello Ilenia, Giannetto Paolo, Iannozzi Valerio, La Malfa Maddalena, Macchi Giuseppe, Magaudda Matteo, Mollura Francesco, Napoli Vittoria, Puca Victoria, Puglisi Viola, Sottile Helena, Trimboli Isabel, Ullo Elisabeth, Calapà Davide and Biondo Valerio. To the tune of the Carabinieri Fanfare, the awards ceremony was held at the Chamber of Deputies in Rome and the attention to detail thanks to the collaboration of mother Adele, in telling the story and the love towards the topic that struck the jury enough to rank them first at a national level. “It was a very exciting experience, starting from the location and then being among the ten schools selected throughout Italy, a prestige for our school which also involved the families of the children who did not want to miss the appointment with the awards ceremony and they followed us to Rome” declared Maria Grazia Caliri. An exceptional audience for the award ceremony which, together with the journalist Ansa Valentina Rigano, saw the participation of the Police Commissioner Paolo Trancassini, Maria Costanza Cipullo of the general directorate for students, inclusion and school orientation, the Attorney General Luigi Riello, Roberto Russo of Link Campus University, the president of the victims of duty association Emanuela Piantadosi.
