BIOMETHANE, PORTESANI (CDX) – VIRIGILIO THE PLANT WANTS TO DO IT, THE CREMONA PEOPLE MUST TAKE NOTE. THE “STRAID ALLIANCE” IS THE ONE BETWEEN THE PD AND A2A

“Andrea Virgilio, candidate for the center left and deputy mayor of Gianluca Galimberti’s council, has declared his full support for the biomethane plant in the Bosco ex Parmigiano area. And this despite previous statements where he shifted the choice to the outcomes of the EIA procedure. The king is naked: he made the choice and the people of Cremona must know this”. Alessandro Portesani, candidate of the centre-right, says this in response to the declarations of Andrea Virgilio, current deputy mayor of Gianluca Galimberti and candidate for the office of mayor for the centre-left.

“The conservatism that Virgilio denounces is nothing other than having sold Cremona to A2A. The real ‘strange alliance’ in the city is between the Democratic Party of Virgilio and Pizzetti and A2A. The deputy mayor’s disorganized reaction betrays nervousness and embarrassment. The technique is always the same: avoid confrontation on the merits and try to delegitimize the opponent.”

“After all, continues Portesani, Virgilio acted as a silent page to the failed incinerator extinguisher for 10 years. And it is always the same Virgilio who was part of the Cremona 20/30 control room. And it is he who signed the memorandum, effectively agreeing to the construction of the plant well before the start of the technical investigation. I would have suggested to the Deputy Mayor to at least wait for the documentary additions which will probably be available in about ten days, to avoid making a fool of themselves when they arrive promptly”.

“All this despite some opinions already present in the Services Conference which leave no room for interpretations on the polluting risk deriving from a plant of this type”. “I would say, Portesani forcefully underlines, that the narrative of the CO2 saved is shameful: the various bodies present at the services conference have almost unanimously declared that the calculation is incomplete as it does not take into account external factors: transport, gas leaks, cogenerator and more). To date, for example, it is not known where the sewage will come from, so any calculation is not reliable. Suffice it to say that in the least burdensome hypothesis we would be talking about around 250,000 kg of CO2 from means of transport alone. And we always gloss over the other pollutants which ATS Valpadana cites in the health assessments yet to be made known”.

“We as the centre-right – adds candidate Portesani – do not say we are against biomethane, but against an industrial concept of the plant. We want smaller power plants, from agricultural companies, close to the waste production sites. Virgilio snubs the project that we presented, without being administrators. What proposals did he make? We want a capital that dialogues and not that imposes its own vision on neighboring territories. Not supine, not overbearing. Collaboration with everyone with a common vision is essential. The energy policies defined by a Municipal Administration should not be dictated by A2A but rather be established in synergy with the production activities of the area in compliance with public health, the environment and workers, thus generating real wealth that can remain in Cremona” .

“After all, what can you expect from someone who disseminates a video by sitting on the back of a bench in defiance of the municipal regulation that he himself approved,” concludes Portesani.
