The CPRs are in fact not assistance facilities for migrants present in Italian territory, but actual detention facilities where people who are not responsible for any crime but only recipients of an expulsion order because they are responsible for having entered our country without a residence permit or because the application for asylum has not been accepted for humanitarian reasons. Considering that for citizens of many countries, it is practically impossible to obtain a regular residence permit for entry into Italy due to the absence of an organized system for regulating migratory flows or humanitarian channels from countries at war, with phenomena of oppression political or with humanitarian crises and the difficulty in obtaining refugee status, the condition of being “irregular” which today is in fact criminalized was the common condition of many immigrants”.

For these reasons we will bring a motion for discussion in the Imperia City Council to motivate opposition to the creation of the CPR not only for its possible location in the Dianese territory of the province of Imperia but so that it is not implemented in Liguria as President Toti would like instead”.
