A fire broke out last night in Swimming pool, in the northern area of Naples: the flames affected an apartment on the first floor of a building in via Emilio Scaglione. The flames destroyed the bedroom and blackened the walls of the rest of the apartment. There are no injuries: there were only people inside at the time of the fire two brothers aged 58 and 56 who live in the apartment. The two remained slightly intoxicated from the smoke released by the fire, and they were helped on the spot by the 118 personnel who immediately arrived on site together with the carabinieri from the Capodimonte station and the firefighters, who put out the flames without any particular problems. The causes of the fire were probably accidental in nature: but the investigations are still ongoing. The building did not suffer any further damage, so much so that it was not necessary to order the eviction of other tenants living in the building.

A collapse in the Quartieri Spagnoli

Yesterday there was also a collapse in the Quartieri Spagnoli area of Naples, near the Gradini San Matteo in Toledo: from the first reconstructions, the wall of the external tuff facade collapsed near the top floor of a building. Precisely because of the collapse, a gas pipe with an associated methane leak had been severed, fortunately immediately blocked by the firefighters who intervened on site. As a precaution, about ten families living in the building were evacuated, while the conditions of the adjacent building and of some Neapolitan “bassi” located opposite are being monitored.
