Marco Scopacasa, law student at the University of Turin and resident in Aosta, won the 2024 edition of the Abbé Trèves competition, the aim of which is to encourage young people to express themselves and create in French around the theme “spontaneously Valdôtain.es ”. .

This year, 10 projects were presented, including two videos, a podcast, seven written texts. The jury appreciated the originality of the approach and argumentation of the video presented by Marco: “It demonstrates an attachment to the Aosta Valley that does not arise from a heritage and a family history, but from an identity built over time, which he describes as “his present and his future. The sense of belonging to the Aosta Valley passes through his friendships but also through the French language and culture which represent a true cultural and human wealth, a means of opening up to the world”.

In his video Marco claims that if he had this opportunity “it is thanks to having grown up and studied in Valle d’Aosta”. French therefore represents for him and his friends a human and cultural bond and a tool for openness towards others .

The prize was collected by Marco Scopacasa’s brother (employed at the University) during a ceremony which took place yesterday, Tuesday 26 March, in the presence of the organizers of the competition: the president of the Council of Valle, Alberto Bertin, the vice-president Aurelio Marguerettaz, the councilors-secretaries Corrado Jordan and Luca Distort, the president of the Aosta Valley section of the Francophone Press Union, Joseph Péaquin, the president of the Abbé Trèves Study Center, Franco Trèves, and the delegate for European Cooperation and international relations of University of Valle d’Aosta, Teresa Grange.

The young student was rewarded with an endowment of 2,500 euros for a high-level training or professional internship in a French-speaking country of his choice.

The second prize, which consists of a multimedia tablet offered by the Center Abbé Trèves, was awarded to Martina Antonia Condurro, a third-year student at the Bilingual High School.

The jury appreciated the originality of the form of the text presented by Martina, “written as a dialogue with her diary. This form gives her a freedom and spontaneity that allow her to speak frankly about her origins, the differences that characterize her and her bond with the Aosta Valley, which make her feel ‘spontaneously Aosta Valley’.”

All the other participants received a certificate: Sophia Baldo (written text); Jeremy Borre (written text); Francesca Braco (video); Daria Ferraris (podcast); Asia Meynet (written text); Noelie Navillod (written text); Mattia Sciulli (written text); Giada Guerrisi, Giada Pace, Thierry Curtaz and Caterina Rodoz (collective written text).

The competition jury was composed of Cristina Deffeyes, Gabriella Vernetto and Roland Martial.
