Aston Martin Valiant: the supercar wanted by Alonso – News and Previews

A new limited-edition sports car, which will be produced in just 38 units, all already pre-ordered, enters the Aston Martin family: it is called Valiant, it derives from the Valour and was desired by Fernando Alonso, who wanted a more extreme version of the latter. So the Q by Aston Martin division entered the field and made changes aimed at emphasizing its dynamics.
Specifically, a 3D printed rear subframe has been adopted to reduce weight by 3kg, a magnesium torque tube has been fitted, which reduces the mass at the center of the car by 8.6kg. While the 21-inch magnesium wheels help reduce unsprung mass by 14kg, and the motorsport-style lithium-ion battery has lightened the car by another 11.5kg. In this way, the 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12, which now reaches a power of 745 HP and a torque of 753 Nm, can be exploited to the fullest, emphasizing the combination with the six-speed manual gearbox.

To manage this potential there are carbon-ceramic brakes measuring 410 mm x 38 mm at the front and 360 mm x 32 mm at the rear, and Multimatic’s Adaptive Spool Valve (ASV) shock absorbers have been chosen, capable of simultaneously adjusting each shock absorber to one of thirty-two damping curves. damping in less than six milliseconds. Furthermore, each driving mode: Sport, Sport+ and Track, has been calibrated to allow the driver to explore the car’s performance progressively. To see the Valiant in action we will have to wait for the dynamic debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, scheduled for 11 to 14 July, when it will be driven by Alonso, who is the first buyer.
