The new Light Phone 3 is the phone that replaces modern smartphones, guaranteeing the possibility of detoxing from technology and an “always connected” life
The new one makes its debut LightPhone 3. This is the third generation of the mobile phone, initially developed in 2017which allows users to detox from technology and from a world that requires a constant online presence. The device incorporates some features, both hardware and software, of modern smartphones but adopts a different approach, giving up features that are now widespread in the telephony sector.
The Light Phone 3 is a real mobile phone, operated by a Qualcomm chips also used by Android smartphones, and is equipped with some smart features. The dimensions, by today’s mobile industry standards, are compact, and the improvements compared to the previous generation are several.
Light Phone 3: technical characteristics
The new Light Phone 3 comes with a display in black and whitewith panel OLED (the previous model had an e-ink panel), characterized by a resolution of 1,080×1,240 pixels and an opaque glass protection. On the side edge there is a wheel for quickly adjusting the brightness and for managing other device functions such as activation from the flashlight.
Under the body there is space for Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoCflanked by 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and from a battery from 1,800 mAh (removable). The photographic sector includes a 50 Megapixel rear camera and an 8 Megapixel front camera. The cameras can be controlled via a special physical button and have a fixed focal length.
There are the GPSthe chip NFC and the fingerprint sensor, integrated into the power button. You can also take advantage of the Bluetooth 5.0. Furthermore, thanks to the Qualcomm chip, it is possible to use the network 5G. The device includes two microphones, with noise cancellation on calls, and two stereo speakers.
The Light Phone 3 is also certified IP54. The dimensions are equal to 106 x 71.5 x 12 mm, with a weight of 124 grams. From the point of view software, the device (based on LightOS) includes various features, such as the calculator, alarm clock, maps and player for playing audio files. The company has anticipated the possible arrival of further functions in the future.
Light Phone 3: price and availability
The new Light Phone 3 can be purchased, in pre-orderwith a price of $399. The official list price, however, is $799. The first deliveries of the smartphone are expected from January 2025. To purchase the device you need to connect to the official Light Phone website which, at the moment, is the only distribution channel provided.
