In front of the crossroads. Excluding the “serial accumulators“, preference and continuity is normally given to a collectible line, which can be linked to certain periods, to certain brands or types of bodywork. Before this, however, there is a very significant crossroads that divides collectors: that is, the choice between road models or racing versions.
By color. If for scale road cars the preference often comes down to the choice of colour, this is not the case for racing cars, a term which includes dozens of categories, from the cars that raced in the Mille Miglia to those in the World Rally Championship, from the prototypes or GTs protagonists at Le Mans to the vehicles of the Paris-Dakar. Excluding Formula 1 and some other categories of prototypes (of which, in practice, there are no registered examples), in the modeling market versions of a reproduction often appear in pairs: the road variant and the derived version for racing. Obviously, nothing prevents you from having both.
Wide choice of racing. The offer for the racing versions has always been wider, also due to the liveries with different sponsors, crews and years. THE purists they will always vote for the “immaculate” car, which offers the possibility of better evaluating the design and interior finishes; the other category will defend the charm of the liveries, special accessories and spartan interiors. In case you are undecided and find yourself, for example, in front of the Kyosho Lancia Stratos of any version, prepare yourself for sleepless nights.
