Double bad defeat for the BBC in Macerata. Oberto’s team played two photocopied matches: an excellent start and a collapse at the end. Pyrotechnics challenges the one from yesterday afternoon. BBC Grosseto takes the lead at 6-0 after an inning and a half, hitting Ion Doba, a starter for Macerata, hard. Samuele Bruno’s single in the first inning opened the scoring but it was Renzo Martini’s grand slam in the second inning that created the significant gap between the two teams. However, Macerata gradually reduces the distance until 6-6 in the 4th inning. Freddy Noguera’s single once again breaks the deadlock in favor of BBC Grosseto, but Macerata scores the decisive hit in the bottom of the fifth on a very ineffective Soto, thanks to Jesus Carrera’s two-run hit (3 out of 5 at bat ) and to the RBIs of Morresi, Dudley Leonora and Fabrizio who closed the second half at 12-7. The final entry of Gabriele Quattrini from the sixth round closes the taps on the attack of the red and whites and Macerata can celebrate the success in game 2 by 12-7. In Friday’s match at the BBC New Energy Grosseto, a crackling start is not enough to bring home the victory (7-3 final for Macerata). The red and whites start well: Tomsjansen and Herrera hit Correa’s pitches and are pushed home by Barcelan’s great double, who reaches third on Martini’s fourth consecutive hit and scores on a ball missed by the catcher: 3-0. The departing Gomez ends the 1st local attack unscathed, but suffers the equalizer in the 2nd. Profar and Di Turi hit a double and a single respectively, Luciani’s single brings home the 3-1, while the second comes on an error. Garcia’s hit ties the score. The Marches take the lead in the 3rd: base to Bernadina and winning single by Carrera. Macerata puts a couple of men on base in the 4th and Oberto calls Noguera, who suffers a double from Morresi who brings Luciani home. At the 6th it is Bernardina’s double that sets the final 7-3.
