Juve track gets complicated, Bologna’s request

London Calling. The sirens coming from the English capital are becoming increasingly louder against Riccardo Calafiori, launched into orbit by the amazing European Championship held so far. A very high performance that is not going unnoticed at an international level. So much so that it has attracted the attention of the big names across the Channel. To the delight of Bologna who are rubbing their hands and hoping for the international auction with millionaire raises. In the Casteldebole area, in fact, they took advantage of the European showcase to raise the price. Whoever wants the defender born in 2002 now must present himself with a flat 50 million euros. If Calafiori were to repeat (in the quarterfinals since he is suspended for the round of 16…) another super performance at the level of the one he showed against Croatia, the Bologna club could also raise their current demands. This is why the Juventus track is getting more complicated. The Bianconeri had moved well in advance for Calafuria, as the Roman defender was nicknamed on social media, and had already reached a basic agreement with the player for a five-year contract worth 2.5 million per season. The Bianconeri, however, have not yet found an economic solution regarding the evaluation of the card with the Emilian club, which has declined the 25 million offer presented by the Juventus managers in May.

Social boom and interest from the Premier League

With hindsight we can say that Sartori and Di Vaio saw things ahead. Calafiori, in fact, after having grabbed a last minute place among the 26 Italians who flew to Germany, he took the starting place in the national team, becoming one of the stars of Euro 2024. A boom that can be photographed in the exponential growth of fans since the class of 2002 on social media: before the start of the competition the defender did not reach 90 thousand followers on Instagram; while now – after just two weeks – is sailing towards half a million followers. Among these there are certainly also the managers of Arsenal and Tottenham, who have put Calafiori in their sights. The blue number 5 has bewitched both London clubs: Spurs have already made contact with Bologna and are preparing their move, while the Gunners are testing the waters directly with his agent Alessandro Lucci. Arteta, in fact, is looking for a left-footed central defender to strengthen his rearguard and has put him in his sights. The auction for the Italian jewel is officially open…
