The first career victory on grass, instead, came for Flavio Cobolli. Fresh from excellent performances with Struff in Stuttgart and Hurkacz in Halle, the Roman broke the surface taboo by beating the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech with the score of 6-4, 7-5 in an hour and 22 minutes of play. The blue was cynical in response, taking advantage of the four break points offered by the Frenchman, but above all he was good at reacting in both sets, breaking his opponent’s serve after suffering the break.
