Italy: agreement between FIR and Udinese Calcio until 2026 for Test matches

Italy will inaugurate the Autumn Nations Series at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine with Argentina on November 9th.

Fifteen years after the last test match played in what was once called the “Friuli” stadium, with South Africa as world champions, the Italian national team will return to play in Udine.

Thanks to the three-year agreement signed between FIR and Udinese Calcio and announced today by the federal and Juventus club leaders, the Friulian city and the Bluenergy Stadium will be the venue for one test match per year until 2026.

Gonzalo Quesada’s Italy will inaugurate the November 2024 international window at the Bluenergy Stadium, hosting Argentina on the first day of the 2024 Autumn Nations Series scheduled for Saturday 9 November at 6.40 pm.

“Argentina is a prestigious opponent, a Latin derby that our public awaits with growing enthusiasm and, for our coach Quesada, the first time against the national team whose shirt he has worn so many times. It will be a magnificent evening of rugby, for which I thank the leaders of Udinese Calcio, President Soldati and DG Collavino, with whom we look forward to collaborating successfully in the three-year period that awaits us” concluded Marzio Innocenti.
