A small (big) mystery has arisen over Andy Murray’s announced withdrawal from Wimbledon. From the ATP to the tournament account, up to Sky Sports UK, the news had been announced by the entire world of tennis and beyond: it is natural to think of a real issue, given the intervention the player had to undergo Dunblane native after retiring from Queen’s.

However, things are not exactly like that. In particular, the editorial staff of The Guardian became suspicious when they saw the post on Twitter/X of the official account relating to the news of Murray’s withdrawal deleted. And, within one evening and then one morning, clearer things came to the surface.

This morning’s report James Gray of i (newspaper whose shares have been held by Daily Mail and General Trust since 2019) according to which Murray’s team said that the Scotsman is continuing to work with his medical team to confirm when he will return to action. Furthermore, no decision would be made.

In his tweet, Gray also reports the fact that the draw will be held on Friday at 10 in the morning (evidently local, i.e. 11 Italian). It is likely, at this point, that a decision will be made before the form is filled out.
