Noah Lyles runs fast, very fast, towards the Paris Games. The three-time world champion showed the world all his talent and warned his next opponents at the Olympics (Marcell Jacobs, first and foremost). The sprinter at the Stars and Stripes Trials taking place in Eugene (Oregon) dominated the 100 meters, placing an excellent 9”83 (0.4 m/s of wind), equaling his personal best. Behind him, the 200m specialist Kenny Bednarek (9”87, record) and Fred Kerley, second at the Olympics (9”88). All three qualified for the 100 meters at the Olympics. The 2019 world champion Christian Coleman, after having already missed Tokyo 2021 (he had been suspended for failing to comply with anti-doping rules), remained off the podium, was only fourth in 9”93 and will have to settle for the 4×100 relay in Paris.
