TURIN – With the arrival of Thiago Motta on the bench Juventus, the staff with whom he has worked in harmony for a long time is also expected in Turin: with some since the beginning, as coach of PSG’s Under 19 team, while others have joined over the course of their careers. Historical collaborators who also accompanied him at Spezia and who strengthened the feeling with him in the extraordinary experience in Bologna. Thiago Motta’s deputies are two: the official one is the 40-year-old Alexandre Hugeux, who replaced the Italian-Brazilian coach who was disqualified in the match against Sassuolo and who takes care of the tactical part, with whom Thiago frequently compares during training and the games; and then there is the one in pectore, Simon Colinet, considered the magician of athletic training, who Thiago has known since his time at PSG since he was the third athletic trainer. Their collaboration has continued since then, except for a brief parenthesis in 2019 when Colinet temporarily joined the Toulouse technical staff: the synergy between Thiago Motta and Colinet is one of the key elements of his teams’ performances, because the accurate and detailed physical preparation allows players to maintain a high level of intensity during matches.
The staff also includes the husband of Thiago Motta’s sister, Flavio Francisco Garciawhich together with Alexander Colasant forms the tandem of match analysts stationed in the stands. The staff is completed by the two goalkeeper coaches, the 40-year-old Frenchman Alfred Dossou Yovo and the 29-year-old Argentinian Iago Lozano, the coach’s trusted men. The magnificent six who are part of Thiago Motta’s court have obviously displaced the collaborators who worked at Juventus and who were not linked to Massimiliano Allegri, i.e. Claudio Philippi, Simon Padoin And Francis Magnanelli. The historic goalkeeping coach, who arrived in Turin in 2010, becomes responsible for the goalkeeping area, the former Sassuolo midfielder should lead the Primavera team in place of Paolo Monterowho would be promoted to the Next Gen bench, while Padoin seems destined for the role of Magnanelli’s deputy.
Thiago Motta will arrive in Turin at the beginning of July, ahead of the Juventus meeting scheduled for the 10th: the coach, with his staff, wants to have some time to get to know the new working environment and immerse himself in the Juventus world. The team will obviously arrive staggered, given the national teams’ summer commitments with the European Championship and the America’s Cup.
