Hyundai is one of the brands most attentive to the ecological transition and is launching new hybrid and full electric cars on the market. The South Korean brand is even one of the few on the market that also has a hydrogen car in its range: the Nexus. But now it’s time for a big news, the new baby SUV that will make all enthusiasts fall in love. We are talking about the Inster, of course.

During the Busan International Mobility Show 2024, Hyundai took the opportunity to present its new SUV to the world: the Inster. The car, completely electric, is equipped with fast charging and above all guarantees a range of 355 km, at the top for models in its category. The relatively small dimensions also make it the perfect car for moving around the city.

The exteriors

The Hyundai Inster is an evolution of the Casper in terms of style. At the same time, however, thanks to its larger dimensions it guarantees greater comfort for passengers and a more imposing presence on the road. This model fits exactly in the middle between segment A (the classic city car) and segment B. It is somewhat reminiscent of the 500L for some of its forms.

The bumper has a technological design reminiscent of electronic circuits with a very particular protection plate, which adds character to the front and rear. The baby SUV also stands out for its LED lights and pixel graphics on the direction indicators. Also available for the most demanding customers are headlights with LED projection and two-tone exterior color with a contrasting black roof. Finally there are 15-inch steel or 15 and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The available colors are different such as: Atlas White, Tomboy Khaky, Bijarim Khaki Matte and Unbleached Ivory. These have been joined by new shades such as: Sienna Orange Metallic, Aero Silve Matte, Dusk Blue Matte, Buttercream Yellow Pearl and Abyss Black Pearl.

Simon LoasbySenior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center, speaking about this new model, said: “For the global audience, thanks to Inster, we have taken the image of the small SUV to a whole new level. Thanks to its size, distinctive design and interior design, Inster maximizes its potential. Thanks to this model we redefine what it means to drive an ultra-compact EV”.

In short, very important words full of decision for the goals that await Hyundai in the future. Loasby referred to the dimensions of this baby SUV which are: length 3.825 meters, wheelbase 2.580, width 1.610 and height 1.575. The load capacity is 280 liters, which reaches 351 by sliding the rear seats.

What’s inside

As we know, however, recently, the interiors of a car are what fascinate customers the most. Those of the Hyundai Inster are truly unique. Entering the passenger compartment, in fact, we immediately find ourselves face to face with a 10.25-inch instrument panel and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation. There is also a wireless charging base incorporated into the compact but spacious center console.

The pixel theme is also found on the steering wheel and the interior of the car features customizable moldings on the back of the doors. This allows customers to have a much more personalized experience with the car. The seats are all foldable, including the driver’s. There is also the option of a bench seat in the front. You can also have heated front seats and steering wheel.

As for the colors there is the black upholstery, the two-tone khaki brown and the Newtro beige with fabric finishes. Hyundai, which has always winked at sustainability, has decided to use completely sustainable materials for this car. In fact, we find, for example, a black paint made from recycled waste tyres.

How much technology

The Hyunda Inster is equipped with all the latest in automotive technology. The South Korean company offers 64-color LED lighting, a digital instrument panel, a one-touch roof opening and access to the car via Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch (NFC). As per the new regulations, this baby SUV has all the necessary ADAS and more: Surround View Monitor (SVM), Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist Rear (PCA-R), Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM) and Forward Collision- Avoidance Assist 1.5 (FCA 1.5).

To these are added several others ADAS such as the line assistant, emergency braking, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, speed limit assistant and parking sensors including camera. In short, this small SUV is not only efficient, but also guarantees a good level of safety.
