The Fiat Panda becomes Big (but not too much)

DESTINED FOR THE WHOLE WORLD – It was expected for July 11th, but almost a month early, Fiat released the first official images of the new generationand of the Panda, which will be called Fiat Grande Panda. It will be the first model of a new family of Fiat cars (here to find out more), which will see the launch of a new vehicle every year between now and 2027. Built on Smart Car platform (the same as its “sister” Citroën C3), the new Grande Panda will be a global model, therefore destined for all markets in the world. Despite the name, the Big Panda is a decidedly compact model, coming in at just a length 3.99 meters compared to an average for this category of 4.06 metres.

PLAY WITH PIXELS – If looking at the Fiat Grande Panda a deja vu arises is absolutely desired, because the new model (as well as the others of its family) is inspired by Original panda, that of the 80s, obviously revisiting its lines in a modern key. The style of the front features orthogonal lines that enclose a progressive square mesh arrangement, generating a punctuation of pixels which extends from the center of the gloss black upper grille to the headlights. The lower bumper protector showcases acrossover attitude, while the lighthouses, composed of opaline cubes, are inspired by the windows of the Lingotto facades. The daytime running lights transform into direction indicators and illuminate some cubes that appear as horizontal pixels arranged in a checkerboard pattern.

TRIBUTE TO 4×4 – Also in the side view Fiat Grande Panda recalls the robustness of the Panda of the 80s. The wedge shape of the body and passenger compartment is accentuated by the roof rails. As a tribute to the legendary Panda 4×4, the Grande Panda is equipped with letters in bas-relief 3D printed on the doors that reflect the surrounding environment. The C pillar is important and faithfully reproduces the inclination of the original model. The diamond-cut alloy wheels use an X-shaped design that recalls the geometry theme of the 80s.

THE MUSCLES BEHIND – The back of the Fiat Grande Panda It’s muscular, thanks to the robust wheel arches, the rake of the windows and the overall arrangement of the rear window, headlights and bumper guard. Here too we find a celebration of the first Panda, with a black band glossy with three-dimensional letters that form the word Panda.

ELECTRIC AND MORE – No official preview regarding the engines of the new one Fiat Grande Panda. As mentioned, the platform is the same as the new Citroën C3, so the electric version is certain, probably with 113 HP and a range of around 300 km. The mild hybrid petrol variant driven by the engine is also discounted 3 cylinders 1.2 101 HP turbo with chain distribution and combined with a six-speed manual gearbox.
